After the earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş and affecting 11 provinces, coordination meetings were held between our University's relevant faculties and units and the Provincial Directorate of National Education, the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, and the KYK dormitory directorates affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports for psychosocial support activities to be carried out with families affected by the earthquake and coming to Burdur and placed in KYKs. Three different trainings on psychological first aid and psychosocial support were provided online and face-to-face by Prof. Dr. Firdevs Savi Çakar and Prof. Dr. Özlem Tagay for volunteers participating in psychosocial support activities. Subsequently, within the scope of psychosocial support, teams were formed and planned to work in three shifts at Asımın Nesli and Safahat dormitories. From the registration and acceptance process of the families coming to the dormitory, the relevant teams took responsibility for meeting all their individual needs. For children affected by the earthquake, play areas were created under the responsibility of Prof. Dr. Perihan Ünüvar from our University's Faculty of Education, Department of Preschool Education, and activities and drama studies suitable for different age groups were planned and carried out under the responsibility of Assoc. Dr. Kenan Demir from the Department of Educational Sciences, accompanied by volunteer academicians from the faculty of education. Material support was provided for reading rooms and study rooms.
